When Things Go Bump In The Night

Early this morning I got a frantic call from a female friend about a loud sound at her front door as if someone were trying to break in. Her dogs alerted and started barking.

She called 911 before calling me.

Needless to say, the police haven't arrived as I type this post, roughly an hour and a half later.

I just called her and asked that she try to settle her nerves and get back to sleep. My nocturnal 'power watch' as I call responding to strange sounds at night has had me check numerous suspicious noises which turned out to be nothing ominous, challenged trespassers and as defensive reaction to two attempted burglaries.

She reviewed security camera footage while we were on the phone and didn't see anyone as of yet.

When things go bump in the night, quietly confirm what's going on because it may not be someone suspicious lurking around.

If it is someone lurking around, have a plan in mind to secure yourself.
