Many questions
WHY?
Night falls but day breaks. A door can be ajar but a jar can't be a door. A near hit is called a near miss.
A Bombay duck is a fish. Canadian bacon is American. The Pennsylvania Dutch are Germans. Armpit deodorant is called underarm deodorant. There is no meat in a mincemeat tart. We refer to Newfoundland-and-Labrador but not British Columbia-and-Vancouver Island. When greeting someone we say good morning, good afternoon or good evening, but not good night.
Just asking.
