Will Antifa Target Aircraft?

Today is October 11^th, so tonight, if the threat is viable, Antifa claims that they will try to “take down” or at least disrupt a federal airliner by using lasers. There are plenty of liberals who would like the American public to believe that Antifa doesn’t exist, but one person who knows better is Portland resident Andy NGO.

NGO is a journalist and the editor for The Post Millennial, a Canadian conservative news website. NGO has been a nagging pain in the ass to Antifa because of his close scrutiny and reporting on the activities of the domestic terror group. In 2019, he was beaten by the group on the streets of Portland, after which he wrote a New York Times bestseller titled "Unmasked: Inside Antifa's Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy."

On Thursday, NGO posted on X:

“A Portland Antifa blog has announced that at 9 p.m. on Oct. 11, they plan to organize a laser attack to try to crash a federal aircraft flying over the ICE facility. Antifa plans to gather at multiple locations across the city and deploy lasers in an attempt to ground all ‘spy planes.’”

“This will also serve as a distraction so other militants can take more ‘daring actions’ elsewhere in the city.”

The blog post has since been deleted; however, the threat may still be credible, as the group provided its followers with specific instructions on not only what to do, but also how to do it.

“Every night for weeks, we are forced to listen to the threatening rhythm of helicopter blades as the federal regime spies on us. The only limit power knows is our refusal to submit. This Saturday, October 11th, you are invited to fight back. All you need is a laser.”

“Leave home – they can see where the laser is coming from. Go to a park, a field, or some other public place, and once the clock strikes 9, unleash your beam at the cop copter. Mask up. Coordinate with friends to throw a laser party! Let’s take back the night together! It won’t take many of us to ground the helicopters!”

“Lasers have the clear downside of being easily traced back to their source, especially from the air. If enough lasers are pointed at the aircraft, we think it will not be able to safely stay in the air for long enough to continue to pinpoint the source for law enforcement, and numbers will make it difficult to focus on a single person.”

“Be ready to dispose of the laser if you need to – wear gloves and clean it with alcohol in case you have to toss it in a hurry. Consider taking precautions to keep DNA off of it as well.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is also aware of the threat

Ngo clarified that antifa’s plans aren’t exactly original.

“The Department of Homeland Security announced on Sept. 30th the arrest of four criminal illegal aliens for conducting laser strikes on airborne helicopters in an attempt to blind aircraft personnel. Lasers have also been used to cause injury to federal officers, both during the current ICE occupation and during the BLM-Antifa rioting of 2020.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is also aware of the threat and warned the group about the severity of what they were proposing in a post on X.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) weighed in and condemned the event.

"Aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft is a federal crime. This is incredibly dangerous for the aircraft personnel and for the public’s safety. Antifa domestic terrorists WILL NOT overrun our cities. We will bust their networks and bring every one of them to justice."

The Antifa flyer remains on the front page of Rose City Counter-Info's website. This group proclaims itself as an "anarchist counter-info platform" based in Portland, Oregon.

The FBI has warned about the dangers of shining lasers at aircraft on its website.

"When laser beams are aimed at any piloted aircraft, whether military or commercial, what might seem like a tiny beam on the ground can blind aircrew, potentially causing a midair collision or other incident.”

A spokesperson for the Port of Portland also added their concerns, telling KATU:

“The Port of Portland and federal and local law enforcement are aware. Safety is the Port’s top priority across our operations. Pointing lasers at aircraft is dangerous and can put people’s lives in jeopardy. It is a felony offense under Oregon law, and if we get calls about any laser activity, Port Police officers will investigate."

Will Antifa follow through with its threat? That is yet to be seen

There are several types of lasers, which can emit colors such as green, red, blue, and violet. The danger posed by a laser is primarily determined by its power and wavelength, rather than its color. However, for handheld laser pointers, green lasers are often considered more hazardous than red ones because the human eye is most sensitive to green light. This sensitivity triggers a strong and sudden blinking reflex, which is not as pronounced with blue or violet lasers.

Moreover, blue and violet lasers can be particularly dangerous because the human eye is less sensitive to these colors. As a result, a person may not blink or turn away as quickly, increasing the risk of eye damage from equally powerful beams.

Will Antifa follow through with its threat? That is yet to be seen. Even if nothing happens tonight, the pilots involved in these flights must take precautions. Despite the left’s denials, this is a domestic terror organization, and human life is secondary to their sick ideology. Defeating their hatred needs to be a priority, starting with a strong showing in Portland. Enough is Enough. Just because the city’s snowflake mayor, Keith Wilson, doesn’t have the guts to stand up to these thugs doesn’t mean others who still understand law and order won’t intervene. Portland has become a cesspool for subversive groups like Antifa, and it is well past time to end this dangerous and very possibly deadly fiasco.

Excuse the pun, but those seeking to eliminate terrorist groups like Antifa need to ignore any and all distractions; their focus needs to remain “Laser Sharp.”
