Now that the smoke has cleared and Castle-backers, Chris Christie, Hugh Hewitt, Bill Kristol, Jay Cost, Jim Geraghty and others, have been fed a spoon of anti-establishment Tea, I believe Mike Castle may turn Independent. Bad news for the victorious O’ Donnell – congratulations! - this has an upside in that, should he win, the I after his name will confuse no one, as an R would have had he taken the primary. As a RINO blurring party lines, he would’ve advanced the destruction of the GOP, while engendering increasing mutiny in the base.
Indeed, O’Donnell’s win draws distinctions between the Grand Old Party and Democrats, between the party that destroys the Constitution and the party that defends it, furthering the advance of political clarity. To blur principle with a pseudo-Dem in the mold of Arlen Specter would’ve steeled the status quo, entrenching the establishment, and leading it inexorably toward 3rd party oblivion. A significant part of America believes in the Constitution and will NOT COMPROMISE in its defense. To define what each party stands for, to show the electorate that there’s a difference, is crucial to conservatism. The inexorable growth of government under homogenous thieves degrades freedom, and the way out is to lift conservatives at the ballot box. If they lose, they lose…. Liberals won’t gain. There will come a time when Truth prevails, and those behind it will be quietly sipping Tea.
