Pure speculation? We will never know. I could go on, but I won’t. Suffice to say, our future will be exactly what WE make of it. Exactly.

I will, by some unfathomable miracle, turn 81 in about two weeks, assuming of course, that I don’t die twixt now and then. I say it’s a miracle because, given the way I lived for the first 43 years of my life, I had no reason to expect to make it to 44, much less 81.
I am what they like to call a former substance (as in alcohol and whatever drugs happened to be handy) abuse, former being the relevant part. As a result, I really do appreciate being alive, and have become a fairly keen observer of the world around me. Unfortunately, far too much of what I am observing does not rise to the level of ‘wonderful’.
I had not intended to write about things political, but to focus on the beauty that surrounds us every minute of every hour of every day, if we choose to see it. However, the assassination of young Charlie Kirk looms far too large not to at least comment briefly on.
Rabid dogs in the room need to be acknowledged before they can bite anyone else.
Young Mr. Kirk was a very successful spokesman for things conservative in America and in life. Being young, other young’uns could relate to him enough to enter into serious discussions of ideas and concepts at a level not achievable with the usual father and mother figures involved in politics and education. And for me, the unavoidable conclusion in this, and why I keep calling him young, is the likelihood that in the 2038 election, young Charlie Kirk would have been the Republican/Conservative candidate for president and would have won in a landslide.
Pure speculation? We will never know. I could go on, but I won’t. Suffice to say, our future will be exactly what WE make of it. Exactly.
