Christian Risk vs Action

Every Wednesday morning, I participate in a men’s Bible fellowship group where we address various issues. Sometimes it is a Bible study and other times we do a book study. We had a discussion about the morality of anger, actions, and the risks involved from Christian perspective.

Many Christians have taken a posture that God is in control of everything and they need to do nothing but wait for God to demonstrate His pleasure. This reminds me of an old story that, I believe, illustrates that the wait and see approach isn’t what God has in mind for the Judeo-Christian world.

A farmer was working his fence line by the road when a pastor stopped to visit with him. The pastor talked about how terrific the farmer’s place looked. Of course, the farmer agreed and thanked the pastor for his observation. The pastor then made the comment that God had certainly blessed the farmer with such a fine looking property. Then again the farmer agreed that God had blessed him, and as he looked around, he mentioned to the pastor, but you should have seen the place when God was working it by Himself.

God first tried to provide for passive human beings, but Adam and Eve screwed that up for all mankind. Since then God has expected humans to be active, productive participants in their existence. In the Old Testament God required action over and over again. One of Jesus’ last directions to the disciples was to take action to spread the Gospel. God expects proactive human action, not waiting passively for God to do it. God’s people, Jews and Christians in particular, are expected take the necessary actions to spread His moral values as defined in the Bible to better themselves, all mankind, and to please God.

Risk is one of the few absolute realities. Everything a human being does has risk. Simply getting out of bed in the morning is a risk. When you get out of bed, you risk falling down. For that matter, staying in bed in the morning is a risk. If you stay in bed, the house could fall on you. Yes, these are minimal risks, but they are risks none the less. Assessing risk is a necessary life skill. This assures the likelihood of a longer life.

Taking action is another one of the few absolutes in life. Everything a human being does or doesn’t do is an action and involves a choice. Choosing to take no action is actually an action.

Risk and action are inexorably joined at the hip. Every action has an element of risk, another of the absolutes in life. The flip side of that coin is that every risk requires some kind of action. The afore mentioned Christian fellowship group has studied the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In pre-World War II Germany, Bonhoeffer took actions and risks to fight the Nazi takeover of the Christian church. It ultimately cost him his life. 

The majority of Christians in Germany chose the risk of inaction by allowing the Nazi regime to establish the German Christian Church, and they ultimately lost their souls when their inaction condoned the Nazi Germany’s subsequent anti-Jew, anti-Christian crimes against humanity. Bonhoeffer fought against the state, but the majority of Germany’s Christians chose inaction and waited for God to take control. Both parties suffered the consequences for the action or inaction risks they took. The German people suffered for years and the East Germans suffered for decades. There are always consequences. Both action and inaction have consequences.

In the United States of America and to a certain extent in Canada, Christians are facing a similar dilemma to what the Christians faced in 1933 Germany. Our governments are decidedly anti-Christian Marxists making every effort possible to wipe Christianity and biblical Judeo-Christian values from our culture. If our governments fail to eliminate God from the North American landscape, they know they will never achieve their goal of world domination. God is in their way and they hate it and the patriotic Christians who God represents.

The Marxist’s wokeness has fouled many churches already with consent of the useful idiots that have bought into man’s word rather than God’s Word as documented in the Bible. So many legacy churches are preaching the Marxist mantra of equity of outcome, white privilege, victimhood, and sexual deviation. The congregations sits in their pews and consent to the woke, twisted version of man’s word replacing God’s Word. Remarkably, this is just like what happened in churches in the 1930s Germany.

In the 20^th century, God fearing Christian American patriots saved Europe in World War I and then saved the world again in World War II. Will God fearing Christian American patriots step up once again to save the American Republic and thus free world once again? If we don’t start the massive correction peaceably with the November 5, 2024, election, I fear we will once again have to do it the hard way as was foreseen by our Founding Fathers when they gave us the protection of the Second Amendment.

Most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were strong Christians. One of the signers was John Witherspoon who was, in fact, a Presbyterian Pastor thus setting the precedence that all patriotic Christians should be active in politics.

Not to speak up is the same as speaking for the status quo. In 2024, the status quo is working mightily to destroy Christianity and Judeo-Christian moral standards. This is a necessary step in taking down America and the free world to cede control to the New World Order for world domination. Are those of us in the Judeo-Christian world going to allow this?
