Clean Up On Isle 411

Note: I assure you that I know the difference between isle and aisle, but both are pronounced the same, so it works.

No doubt, at some point in your life you have been in a grocery store when a call has gone out “clean up on aisle six” (or whatever). America’s constitutional legislature is composed of 435 individual islands we call Representatives and Senators. Each of the isles are elected by the legal voters of the states these isles represent. Each of these isles have been placed in their high position to act on behalf of and in the best interest of his/her constituents.

Each of these isles is getting a base paycheck of at least $174,000 a year plus reimbursement for certain qualifying expenses. Certain of these isles take on additional responsibilities in their respective chamber and receive even better renumeration. Most of these isles, when initially elected to Congress, go to Washington DC with the very best of intentions of meeting their constitutional obligations while representing their state’s voters.

My January AFC/CFP article The Best Government Money Can Buy I detail the main problem I see with Congress, which is too many crooks. In Washington’s time and even in Truman’s time, most members of Congress were not crooks. Sadly, in our times, that doesn’t seem to be the case. In the 21^st century, good men and women have been elected to Congress, but after a term or two, get disgusted with the corruption and bailout. In February 2026, I only trust that there are 124 members of Congress who are not crooks because those are the members who have willingly signed on to cosponsor a Bill establishing term limits for Congress. That means “clean up on isles 125 through 435.” There are likely 411 seats in Congress that need to be cleaned up. Some 50 of these questionable members have announced that they are not running for re-election, that’s the good news. The bad news is that it leaves 351 probable crooks in Congress.

In 2025, Americans had the most waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer’s money revealed in the history of America. In Minnesota alone, corruption has exceeded nine billion dollars, so far. When all is said and done, I expect the total will well exceed two trillion dollars of domestic and foreign fraud, waste, and abuse of American taxpayer’s dollars. If Congress was doing their job of oversight, this would not have happened. In my mind, too many Congress members (isles) have been too busy enriching themselves rather than properly representing their voters. America does, indeed, have the best Congress money can buy. Unfortunately, it is money from foreign and domestic special interest individuals and groups that are George Washington’s “highest bidders.”

Historically, I have been against single issues for voting for anyone. However, to paraphrase Patrick Henry, these are times that try men and women’s souls. For the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections, I will advocate for an absolute litmus test of all Congressional seats. The question for sitting Representatives and Senators will be. “Have you signed on to cosponsor the Congressional Term Limits Bill?” If they answer yes, no matter which political party they represent, they have my vote. If the answer no, they should be primaried by their party for a candidate who will sign on to legislation for congressional term limits.

For candidates who are running to fill and empty congressional seats the question is, “Will you sign on to cosponsor the Congressional Term Limits Bill?” We should only vote for people who are in favor of ending the criminal enterprise known as the United States Congress in the criminally corrupt sewer inside the Washington Beltway swamp. The 2026 congressional election is the first of three opportunities to begin draining the swamp of criminality in the United States government.

This is not a partisan political party issue. This is a taxpayer revolt to force the federal government to be better custodians of our taxpayer dollars. Any politian, regardless of political party, needs to listen up. We’re mad as hell and we won’t take it anymore.

It is time to end the soft tyranny of the lifetime, career, professional politicians whose sole reason for “serving” is to become rich at taxpayer’s expense. These crooks have, for all intents and purposes, been looting the United States Treasury for their foreign and domestic financial masters and themselves. The time has come to end it. If not now, then when? If not us, then who?
