Fans of Joseph Andrew Stack Appear on Internet

Before the fires were completely extinguished, Facebook pages sprang up lauding the man who flew his plane into an office building that housed employees of the IRS.

On Feb.18, 2010, at around 9:15 a.m. CST, software engineer Joseph Andrew Stack set his Austin Texas house on fire. Reports are unclear whether his wife and 12-year-old daughter were in the home at the time or arrived home while the house was engulfed in flames. In any event, neither of them was injured in the blaze. Stack left the scene and went to the suburban Georgetown airport, about 30 miles north of Austin where he kept his Piper Cherokee plane and took off without filing a flight plan. Around 10 a.m., Stack intentionally flew the plane into the Echelon 1 building in downtown Austin. Three people, including Stack, are known dead and at least two people in the building were seriously injured.
