Pessimism did not build America, optimism did

The happiest people in North America, perhaps the whole world, are Christian Republicans. Many may think this is an awfully bold statement, but for the most part Christian Republicans are “glass half full” optimists. Their belief in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit is the foundation for their optimism because there is ultimately a happy ending to their existence. Even in the toughest times, Christian Republicans look for the best in any given situations and, more often than not, find things to be positive and optimistic about.
By the same token, the most unhappy people in North America are the religious agnostics, atheists, and nones, nearly all of whom are Democrats or now Socialist Democrats. These are “glass half empty” pessimists. These unhappy Democrats look for what is wrong with the world and find it difficult to be happy about anything, except when they are in control of things. Whether in charge or not, these unhappy pessimists can never seem to find solutions to problems, but they are very good at creating problems.
The very best example I can think of was something Socialist Democrat President Barack Obama once said. He boldly told Americans and the world that America’s best days were behind her. This was before Americans discovered that his goal was to tear down America rather than build a stronger America. Well, President Donald Trump, the ultimate optimist, blew up that statement in the first 100 days of his first term. When Obama, hiding behind the Biden curtain, tried to double down, Trump blew it up again in the first 100 days of his second term. Optimism will always trump (pun intended) pessimism.
Another indicator that Democrats can’t be happy was recent polls. In 2024, while Biden was President, 64% of Socialist Democrats were proud of America (85% of Republicans). One short year later, under President Trump only 36% of Socialist Democrats are proud to be Americans (92% of Republicans). To me that is an immature approach to real life. Basically, these Socialist Democrats are choosing unhappiness. In most respects, these unhappy people are allowing President Trump to live, rent free, in their heads, to use a popular phrase.
There are two particularly high-profile individuals who exhibit these traits in a very public way. Rosie O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland, and Ellen DeGeneres, who moved to England, often appear on American television whining about Trump. Why would they do this if they didn’t allow Trump into their heads? In a way, these two and every other Socialist Democrat has given control of their minds over to Donald J. Trump, but not in a good way. No wonder they are unhappy people, when their thoughts are apparently governed by someone they detest.
After reviewing numerous articles regarding the happiest people in America, I’ll go out on a limb to suggest my findings apply to Canadians as well as Americans since we are brothers from the same parents. My conclusion is that the happiest people in America are politically conservative, church going, married with children, and living outside of the big cities. Once again, I’ll go out on a limb, because that sounds like the red state populations to me.
Is it a coincidence that this sounds like the very guiding principles America’s Founding Fathers used to build the foundation for America? Of course not, Christian values were the basis of the United States Constitution. Until World War II, the family unit was fundamental in building America into the most generous nation on the planet. Until the 1920s, America’s economy was predominantly a rural and small business economy. Are you seeing a pattern here?
“Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” ~ Abraham Lincoln
We all have a choice. Be optimistic and look for the good in people and opportunities to improve the world. The other choice is to expect the bad in people and continue to try to find fault, which will only result in perpetual unhappiness. Pessimism did not build America, optimism did.
