Healthcare will be front and center of the campaign going forward

Here we go again, healthcare will be front and center of the campaign going forward, or should be. Americans may have short attention spans but that Supreme Court vote is etched into the brains of most voters, for very different reasons. The Act was approved in March 2010. We are now 1600 agencies bigger and billions deeper in debt.

The entire plan is failing, several providers have bowed out

At the outset, some insurance companies were promised subsidies (bribes) to help them retain their profit margins. and to stay in the game. Those subsidies are coming to an end. In addition, the entire plan is failing, several providers have bowed out and now Aetna is pulling out of 11 of the 15 states where they were selling policies. Because you see, without the market being allowed to work, insurance isn't a profitable venture. The plan was built on the assumption that young people would pay premiums that would help fund the system. They aren't buying in. They have student debt, no or poor job prospects, can't afford the basics and are healthy. I've heard a lot of assertions that many more people have health care now and that is true but not honest—the implication being that the expanded coverage is the result of Obamacare. What happened was that most of the uninsured were added to the Medicaid system which is State operated. We didn't need Obamacare in order for that to happen.

Obamacare may hold together until after the election but the day of reckoning lies ahead

Bottom line is that whether the State or Federal government provides the coverage, insuring all Americans is expensive. In other countries where it has been tried there is much dissatisfaction. Care is delivered slowly, diagnostic tests often denied. Obamacare may hold together until after the election but the day of reckoning lies ahead. Who has the experience to figure out the best answer? It will either be Hillary and a giant step to government run, single payer (the government) or Trump and a healthcare system based on sound business principles. My vote, for the sake of my grandchildren, is for Trump. Wayne A. White
