In Memory of Tony Curtis and Buffalo Jim Barrier

Sally Menke unexpectedly passed earlier this week, Gloria Stuart died after a century of life, filmmaker Arthur Penn left us and comedian Greg Giraldo also died just yesterday. More sad news came today as ABC News reported legendary Academy Award nominated actor Tony Curtis peacefully passed away next to his wife in their bed around midnight last night. The actor is probably best known for playing Antonius in the 1960 epic Spartacus and also starring opposite Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot, the 1959 comedy which has truly stood the test of time.

His turn in the 1959 film The Defiant Ones, where he found himself chained to Sidney Poitier, garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Curtis also had roles in more dramas like The Outsider and The Boston Strangler and comedies like Sex and the Single Girl and The Great Race. Starting in 1949, Curtis has appeared in over 100 films and dozens of television appearances. In addition, Curtis shared the spotlight with one of the first Scream Queens, the lovely Janet Leigh (Psycho), as the two were Hollywood's golden couple until their marriage ended in 1962. But from that marriage, Leigh and Curtis gave birth to the next generation's Scream Queen in their daughter Jamie Lee Curtis.
