It’s A Choice

When you are living in your eighth decade, most of us pick up a few very important points along the way, some of us sooner and the rest later.  I’m not quite certain of the exact time I figured this one out, but the most important lesson in life is the fact that life is about choices.  Every single thing we do in life is about making choices.  There are damn few absolutes in life, but making choices is one of them.  What one chooses can be changed.  The fact that choices are required is an absolute. Everything is a choice and even not making a choice is a choice.

The Choice To Be Offended

A human being’s most primal education tool is choice.  As soon as a tiny human being becomes mobile, they begin their education by making choices. The little critter tries to roll over; that’s a choice. If the baby fails the first time, they choose to try again and again until they succeed.  In a deeper meaning, he/she tried until success was achieved for the first time.  From there on our choices in life only get more complicated.  Living a successful life is about each individual making the best choices for him or herself throughout their life time.  Choices will determine whether a person is President or in prison (not mutually exclusive, by the way). God gave human beings their very first right.  That was the right of free will or choice.  Adam and Eve chose unwisely to eat that apple.  None the less, God left us the right of choice.  If an individual uses his/her right of choice wisely to benefit him or herself without denying anyone else of their rights, he/she will likely have a good life.  By the same token, if one makes poor choices that negatively harm others, life won’t be so great.  It is all about choices.  Now let’s think about a couple of the big choices people must consider in the world in the 21^st century. If you choose to be offended by what someone else did or said, whose problem is it?  It is your problem because you made the choice to allow what someone else did or said offend you. The person committing what you choose to be offended about has no clue where your offence boundaries are, nor should they.  When you choose to be offended, you are surrendering your power to somebody else’s opinion.  How does that serve you?  Is your ego so big that you expect everyone else in the world to conduct their lives in a manner that does not ever offend you?  Can you conduct your life so you offend no one else?

The Choice To Be Ignorant

Your choice to be offended is the surest way to restrict communications between you and the rest of the world.  Again, how does that serve you?  Choosing to be offended is far more damaging to you than anyone else.  For the most part, nobody gives a damn if you choose to be offended.  If these realities offend you, you need to run to your safe space, or make the choice to get a grip on reality. As bad as the Marxist education system is where people are now taught what to think rather than how to think, there is no excuse for being ignorant except by choice.  The choice to look at the world only from the perspective of people who agree with you is a choice to be ignorant.  Most people who make this choice are also the ones discussed above who are easily offended and need their safe space. In North America, information a person needs not to remain ignorant is available on their smart phone or computer.  Even “old time” printed material can be used to reduce a person’s ignorance.  I will grant the fact that if a person was trained what to think, finding truth, facts, reliable information, or differing opinions is harder than for those of us who only need to go to the “lamestream” media.  Nonetheless, there are sources that give everyone a choice about what they feed their brain.

If the current state of the economy, increasing gas prices, increasing food prices, increasing cost of everything

The most troubling thing I see is the willingness of so many people to simply choose to accept what is happening to them without question.  They fail to see that the choices they make may look good in the short run, but can be disastrous in the long run.  Too many in North America are surrendering to their controlling government and ignorant of the fact that once surrendering freedoms for perceived safety, the government will resist ever returning those freedoms.  The choice of blissful ignorance will certainly not be blissful in the long term.   If the current state of the economy, increasing gas prices, increasing food prices, increasing cost of everything, and the lawlessness that exists doesn’t cause North Americans to flee the ignorance they are experiencing, nothing will.  Each individual must make a choice, ignorance or enlightenment. In summary, life is about choices.  In today’s real world, some very big choice will be demanded of all of us in the near future.  If you choose to continue to be easily offended and you choose to remain ignorant, you’d better find a very well-stocked safe space and be prepared to be controlled as someone’s subject.  As for the rest of us, we will try to engage with those trying to rule us and make sure they fail in their efforts.  That’s my choice, and I’m sticking to it.
