I just posted this on social media:
'As a Louisiana 'no party' voter, I get the option to choose which party to vote for.’
Critics of both parties, of whom I'm proudly one, have an interesting choice.
Help 'LADems' (Louisiana Democratic Party) hold onto their shrinking fiefdom or bet incoming 'LAGOP' (Louisiana Republican Party) rule will be better.
Pro-'2A,' anti crime 'no partiers' should be appealed to by LAGOP as a valuable swing vote.
Pro-majority Black district, multiple 'Nola' (New Orleans) municipal clerks and judges 'no partiers' should be appealed to by LADEM as a vital counterpunch.
We shall see who wants a bigger tent.
The above is a nuanced take on what faces voters who aren't registered to either majority party in Louisiana's now-closed primary system.
This partisan choice also comes on the heels of the landmark recent US Supreme Court decision abolishing the state's second majority Black congressional district.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry reacts to SCOTUS ruling on on congressional maps (WDSU, April 30th, 2026).
Like other 'no party' voters in Louisiana, I have a partisan choice to make in the near future.
