Memo to Joe Biden- Learn From California and Australia

Joe Biden proposes spending $2 trillion on a war against cheap energy in a bid for nicer weather that no one believes will happen in their lifetime. ¹ He would do well to study what has happened in California and Australia. There is currently high demand for electricity across California, as the entire West Coast has been hit by a heat wave and record breaking temperatures.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said recently that the state had to 'sober up' about the fact that renewable energy sources had failed to provide enough power for the state at peak demand, and needed 'backup' and 'insurance' from other sources. ² One reason the state lacked power, officials admitted, was its over-reliance on renewables- i.e. wind and solar power. There was not enough wind to keep turbines going, Newsom, said, and cloud cover and nightfall restricted solar power. In addition, high demand for electricity in the evening hours, coupled with less input from solar plants, created strain. In Australia they called it 'a climate election' and the people voted 'No.” The result was a surprise and a bitter disappointment to left leaning Bill Shorten. US polls on climate change showed only a few days ago that the voters rank climate second to last. More windmills will not save the US economy from a rogue virus. Either Biden hasn't done his research or he is over confident enough to toss in burdensome gambit policies so he can claim a 'mandate' after the election. ³
