Obamacare 'captures the spirit of our founders'

Nancy Pelosi: On July 4th, we can celebrate ‘Health Independence’

Yesterday was a banner day for left coast crackpot Nancy Pelosi. In a single press conference, she managed to invoke Independence Day, the Founding Fathers, and original intent. On any normal day, a "progressive" queen like Pelosi would probably be screaming about how July 4th is a monstrous holiday celebrating the creation of a racist nation at the hands of wealthy slave owners. This year is different.
This year, Pelosi wants us all to use Independence Day to celebrate Obamacare -- a train wreck which 60% of the American people want repealed. "Next week, when we celebrate Independence Day we'll also be observing health independence," Pelosi said. "This week marks one year since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. It captures the spirit of our founders." She then quoted the Declaration of Independence claiming that Obamacare was in keeping with the concept of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Amazingly, the Declaration did not burst into flames.

"So," she continued, "we've had Social Security, Medicare, and now health independence, so that's something our members will take home to celebrate over this Independence Day." As usual, Nancy is just fantastically wrong.
A: The founders would be horrified to learn that their creation has become a massive bureaucracy which has granted itself the ability to force citizens to buy products from private corporations. B: Independence Day is not Pelosi's personal plaything. It's about the birth of our nation, not the creation of onerous, anti-constitutional, legislation. C: How, exactly, does cradle-to-grave dependence on a slew of government programs equate to independence? At this point, the left's willingness to deny reality and twist definitions is just becoming mind-numbing. Next she'll be telling us that "war is peace," "freedom is slavery," and "ignorance is strength."
Here's Nancy, reminding you that, this 4th of July, you should light a few fireworks in celebration of a law you probably hate. Be sure to "like" Robert Laurie over on Facebook and follow him on Twitter. You'll be glad you did.
