Neo-Socs guilty of delusional thinking

It’s difficult to believe that Barack Obama could be so naive as to actually believe that government spending could create wealth

One of the prime factors that set the Neo-Socialists apart from normal Americans is their delusional thinking. Nearly every legislative initiative introduced by the current management of the White House and Congress is fraught with silly premises that have no basis in reality.

Take the President’s recent statement that the US Treasury could affect the current economy in a positive manner by “spending our way out of the recession.” There is no way that government can have a positive effect on the economy through “job creation” initiatives. At best government spending could have a positive effect on unemployment through infrastructure improvement. But the alleviation would only be temporary once the infrastructure improvements were completed. Wealth is created by individual businesses. When governments compete with private enterprise for available capital, the inevitable result is inflation as capital funds eventually become scarcer and the cost of borrowing increases. It’s difficult to believe that Barack Obama could be so naive as to actually believe that government spending could create wealth. What’s more likely is that the President is so driven by ideology that the deleterious effects of government competing with the private sector for money are totally ignored. Another chimera is the prospect of “green jobs”. Let’s say that America undertakes a massive government-initiated shift from coal-fired generation of electricity to wind or solar generated electricity. Like the “spend ourselves into prosperity” delusion above, this new initiative would have temporary benefits, but would ultimately do more harm than good. The temporary benefits would be the creation of the massive new power grid necessary to make use of this new form of energy creation. But once the infrastructure was put in place, those who built it would once again be idle. The deleterious effects would be many, not the least of which would be the complete destruction of an entire industry, such as mining. In addition both wind and solar energy are so expensive, so land intensive and so dependent on capricious weather patterns as to be totally unreliable. The only green jobs that I see in the future are openings for houseboys and maids in one of Al Gore’s mansions, as he enriches himself beyond imagination by trading in carbon credits. Then there is the delusion about the swine flu pandemic. As pandemics go, this one was fairly tame and hardly anything like the great flu pandemic of 1918-19. Like the global warming delusion (see below) the H1N1 flu virus presents a perfect opportunity for the World Health Organization to further the UN’s agenda of global governance and wealth redistribution. Dr. Margaret Chan, Director General of the WHO is fanning the flames of hysteria about this supposed “pandemic” by making intemperate announcements of its impending dangers to the world population. And like global warming the Great Pandemic of 2009-10 is a Neo-Soc delusion foisted on a credulous population. Despite Sen. Barbara Boxer’s assertion to the contrary, abortion is not “reproductive healthcare”. And despite her insistence otherwise, medication for erectile dysfunction is a necessary component of reproductive healthcare, especially among men suffering from prostate cancer and related conditions. However, Boxer and her fellow Neo-Socs are trying to foist a massive fraud on the American people by insisting that abortions are an essential part of “reproductive healthcare” that should be covered by federally mandated funds. Nice try, Barbie, but using the sinister Orwellian terminology of “reproductive healthcare” to describe the wholesale slaughter of unborn children doesn’t convince anyone that abortions are anything else, nor will it change the minds of those who oppose it on moral grounds. Perhaps the biggest delusion of all is that of anthropogenic global warming, particularly in light of the fact that the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit have raised some serious questions about the honesty of UN climate researchers. Given that the “hockey stick” graph has been thoroughly discredited and given that much of the research that helped arrive at the conclusion that man was destroying the planet through carbon emissions can’t be reproduced because the base data were destroyed, it involves an act of religious faith to commit to regressing to a 19th century standard of living in order to “save the world”. As delusions go, this is a biggie, but it serves to further the Neo-Socs’ global agenda of world governance and permanent, ongoing international welfare. A corollary to the anthropogenic global warming misconception is that the oceans are rising. For years Neo-Socs have cited the decrease in the population of Tuvalu as evidence that the oceans were rising and in danger of inundating that small island nation. Only problem is that the decline in Tuvalu’s population has nothing to do with global warming and everything to do with the fact that Tuvalu’s main source of income is foreign aid. All those wishing to do something other than fish or work for the government are leaving for more lucrative endeavors. A recently introduced delusion is that polar bears are eating their young because of the melting polar ice caps. And indeed some polar bears are eating bear cubs. The ice caps melting would be a plausible explanation for this phenomenon to those Neo-Socs who have little or no understanding about nature. But the fact is, old males of most of the world’s eight bear species have no qualms about eating bear cubs because they are easy prey, which is one of the reasons that female bears are so aggressively protective of their cubs. Another major delusion among Neo-Socs is that cap and trade legislation will lower temperatures worldwide. As Professor Bjorn Lomborg pointed out in his book, Cool It, even if we enacted the toughest cap and trade regime worldwide we would only delay the cyclical worldwide warming trend by less than three years at the end of this century. The only thing that cap and trade legislation will achieve is the impoverishment of those living under it. Finally, the most nefarious delusion of all: that government works for the people. Nothing could be further from the truth, given how those in the US government are reacting in the face of massive opposition to initiatives such as nationalized health care, stimulus spending, bank bailouts, auto sector rescues, cap and trade legislation and the like. The exact opposite is true; the people now work for the government as it metastasizes into a vast tumor that inhibits freedom and regulates people’s lives. This is the one place that Neo-Socs must be combated if we are to save what’s left of America. And while we live in a world among other nations we must never surrender our national sovereignty in favor of a global government because some Neo-Socialist believes it makes sense.
