New York Is Paying Medical Bills For Hookers And Evanston, IL. Wants To Pay Reparations

The DOJ has filed a lawsuit against Evanston, IL. Where city officials have hatched a hairbrained scheme to pay reparations to blacks only. The plan would pay $25,000 to black residents who lived in Evanston between 1919 and 1969, as well as descendants of black residents who lived in the city during that time period. Naturally, this would be funded with taxpayer dollars.

I wrote another column on reparations just five days ago, on June 18^th. In that one, I wrote that five years ago, the Oakland Unified School District initiated a groundbreaking effort to address the longstanding disparities between Black students and their peers. This initiative, called “Reparations for Black Students,” made ambitious promises and received significant publicity, along with the support of district leaders who committed to closing achievement gaps and improving outcomes by 2026.

That scheme fell apart, and nothing changed for the students, yet a lot of time and money were wasted, while, as usual, blame was placed everywhere except where it belonged.

Rational people have been saying the same thing for years. Paying reparations to people who were never slaves and compounding it by making people who never owned slaves pay them is utter madness.

WND reported that the application for the DOJ to join the case is based on Section 902 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This section allows the attorney general to intervene in cases where there are allegations of denial of equal protection under the law based on race, provided the case is certified as being of general public importance.

According to the Daily Caller, Evanston has already distributed $3.25 million through its program to at least 141 applicants. However, the Chicago Tribune reports a higher total, stating that $5.03 million has been given to 203 applicants as of September 2024.

The Tribune indicates that Evanston allocated $1.36 million for home improvements, mortgage assistance, and down payments specifically for Black residents. Additionally, the city spent $3.69 million on direct cash benefits for eligible Black applicants.

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Harmeet Dhillon, posted on X:

"Evanston’s “first in the nation” reparations program is discriminatory and illegal.

"'Civil Rights sued the city today challenging the program. Other cities are on notice: discriminate against residents — you’ll hear from us!

"Plaintiffs in the lawsuit clearly stated the facts:

“The city has offered and distributed unrestricted cash payments and financial assistance for purchasing, constructing, improving, repairing, or maintaining housing in the city, exclusively to current or former black residents who lived in the city as adults between 1919 and 1969, and to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.”

Despite warnings from legal experts about potential constitutional issues, the city proceeded with the program.

In a prepared statement, Dhillon said:

“Under the pretext of paying reparations for events more than 100 years ago, the city of Evanston has chosen to distribute millions of dollars in cash and housing benefits to people because of the color of their skin or the color of the skin of their parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents. There are sound ways for a city to remedy past discrimination or direct resources to its most vulnerable citizens and neighborhoods. Simply handing out money based on race, however, is not the answer. It is race discrimination, pure and simple. And it is illegal.”

Yes, it’s illegal, but it is also immoral and frankly, damned stupid.

When it comes to stupid, New York never wants to be left out of the discussion, and with the collection of Democrats, they have gang-banging the taxpayers of the cities and the state, they are never far from the top.

The New York Post reported on Friday that Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration intends to continue paying for prostitutes’ STD treatments and birth control.

Hochul plans to allocate an additional $1.5 million in tax dollars for the healthcare of prostitutes, extending the $1 million pilot program without seeking legislative approval.

Community Health Project owns the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center (Callen-Lorde) in Brooklyn. According to its website, it: “pioneered healthcare equity in the spirit of resistance, and with a deep commitment to fighting stigma and health disparities.”

The New York Post reported in July 2023 that the New York State Department of Public Health’s AIDS Institute awarded $1 million to the parent corporations of Callen-Lorde and Evergreen Health to provide health services related to primary care, behavioral health, dental care, and sexual health for sex workers. Now Hochul wants to extend this waste of tax dollars until 2028, costing taxpayers another $1.5 million.

Republican Assemblyman Michael Novakhov blasted Hochul:

“The lengths by which New York Democrats will cater to the far left has no greater example then Gov. Hochul funding healthcare for hookers to the tune of millions while actual frontline healthcare workers live on food stamps. Instead of playing pimp, Kathy ‘Ho-Ho’ Hochul and Mayor ‘Madam’ Mamdani should consider making sure the heroes who answer 911 calls and save lives every day can afford their rent and groceries.”

The extension followed support from Democrats, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, for decriminalizing prostitution, according to The Post.

When Mamdani campaigns for anything, he promises everything. In 2020, when he was running for state assembly, he wanted to save the world one hooker at a time. Back then, he posted on X:

“Not only must we decriminalize sex work, we need a comprehensive platform of justice for all.”

Republican Assemblyman Sam Pirozzolo pointed out that prostitutes can already receive abortions and pills for sexually transmitted diseases at medical facilities for free within the state.

This is just another blatant excuse for Hochul to placate the radicals on the far left. Prostitution is illegal in New York and most states, so why would you use the money from legal taxpayers to pay their medical bills?

It’s no secret why taxpayers are leaving blue states like New York in droves. Yet those who remain keep electing Democrats who continue to spend outrageous amounts of tax dollars on their horrible delusions.

Prostitutes and reparations are two archaic pipe dreams, and Democrats think they are progressive, another illusion of theirs.
