Open Letter to United States Congress

In the United States of America, all kinds of special interest groups have managed to get such things as Black History and Gay Pride designated as worthy of celebrating for an entire month. That’s nice. But it occurred to me that something is missing, and I realized that for the greatest nation that has existed in history, we only celebrated three days each year. That’s fundamentally wrong in my mind.

To properly celebrate and acknowledge the founding of our nation and the millions of martyrs who have suffered and/or given up their lives so that we can have everything we have today in the United States, we need a more significant period of time designated for all Americans to honor our country and those who have served her. I ask you to co-sponsor the appropriate process to designate the time beginning with the Memorial Day holiday, encompassing the Flag Day holiday, and ending with the 4th of July holiday as American Heritage Month. Yes, it is a bit more than a month depending on how the holidays fall any given year.
