Patience, Grasshopper

Most of the Baby Boomer generation will get the reference regarding the title of this article. It comes from a 1970s television series called Kung Fu. The main character was named Kwai Chang Caine played by David Carradine.

This character was raised by Chinese Monks who were Kung Fu Masters. In flashbacks to his training as a child, the Kung Fu Masters referred to young Caine as Grasshopper and often these scenes opened with “Patience, Grasshopper.”

In American society today, too many of us have unreasonable expectations about how fast things should change under the Trump administration. Of course, Democrat Derangement Syndrome (DDS) victims are demanding that Trump immediately fix what took Biden/Harris/Obama (BHO) four or more years to break. In the first week of Trump 2.0, these poor souls were demanding that Trump fix egg prices. The fact that BHO had just executed millions and millions of laying hens didn’t matter to them.

Many delusional Americans are convinced that there is a pill or a cream or a spray for everything. These folks feel they are entitled to instant gratification. Most American are realistic enough to know that the real world doesn’t work that way. Patience, Grasshopper!

As much as Trump, DOGE, and the rest of Trump’s MAGA teams have done in the first half of the first 100 days, Trump isn’t just cleaning up after BHO. The mess the American federal government is it took BHO, their presidential predecessors, the elected corruptocrats, the corrupters of the elected corruptocrats, and the unelected Deep State corruptocrats almost 100 years to create, although the worst of it has happened in the last 50 years. These Trump teams have taken on the biggest job in American history, which is to fumigate the Washington Beltway Bubble to eradicate the rats, cockroaches, and other corrupt swamp creatures inhabiting that infamous swamp. Patience, Grasshopper!

We the People have a self-inflicted problem

We the People have a self-inflicted problem. We have our own preferences for what the Trump teams should do first. Patience, Grasshopper! Step back and take a more global view. The Trump teams are doing fantastic work in a tremendous variety of areas. My only hope is that Trump’s constitutional advisors will take a stand that the federal Judiciary Branch, at the district level, has gotten out of their lane by trying to run the Executive Branch by lawfare. Reminder to myself: Patience, Grasshopper!

President Trump gave us fair warning: Short term pain for long term gain. Those involved in athletics know that to excel in any sport requires us to endure short term physical pain to prepare our bodies. Anyone who has started a small business knows that there is short term financial pain in order to achieve long term success (gain). Any woman that has birthed a child knows about short term pain for the lifetime gain of a precious child.

For those of you who are younger, maybe you can relate better to another of my favorite fictional purveyors of wisdom. “Patience you must have my young Padawan (Luke Skywalker).” ~ Jedi Master Yoda

The operative word is patience. For all the young and old “Padawans” out there, we have been blessed by what has already been done by the Trump teams. Have patience I suspect the biggest things are yet to come.
