“Polish Fritzl” Sentenced to 10 Years in Jail

Man Raped, Beat and Terrorized Daughter for Six Years


Last Thursday, Krzysztof Bartoszuk was convicted of sexual offences including rape, sexual acts with a minor and the physical and mental abuse of his daughter, Alicia, now 23, and other members of his family. Although prosecutors had asked for a sentence of 15 years, Bartoszuk was sentenced to 10 years in prison. A spokesperson for the court in Bialystok Poland stated that the lesser sentence was handed down because there was insufficient evidence of “extreme cruelty or unusual violence” associated with the crimes that were perpetrated mainly against his daughter.

Bartoszuk was not charged with incest. The acts committed against Alicia were all crimes because she was a minor at the time they occurred or she did not consent to sexual activity. Although incest is a crime in Poland, the sentences only range from three months to five years in jail. More...
