According to the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses, 17,000 information technology jobs were lost in the month, an improvement from a loss of 46,000 in January and 56,000 jobs in December 2008. Tech employment peaked in November 2008 at more than 4 million jobs, outlasting the recession longer than most industries. The drop in the past 3 months of less than a quarter of a percent is a notably positive outcome when compared to the loss of 4 million jobs and a drop of more than 3 percent in general employment.
