Texas cops refused service at restaurant because, well…

Two Texas police officers were working private security on a construction site Tuesday night when they went to a Lewisville Whataburger for dinner. When one of the officers, Michael Magovern, approached the counter the manager looked at him and said, “We don’t serve police officers.” When he didn’t say anything else, the officers left and went to a Dairy Queen to get some food. The manager was fired and the company issued an apology to the officers. In a media release, Whataburger said they conducted an internal investigation and the manager no longer works for the restaurant. Whataburger also said they wanted to make things right and invited the officers and their families for a meal. There seems to be a lot of sympathy for the manager whose name was not released. He is described as a father in his 50s who was laughing at the time he said he wouldn’t serve the officers. Magovern told Fox4 that he still likes Whataburger and put it down to one employee at one location. He also said the manager should have been spoken to rather than terminated. Beckham put it well when he said, “It really strikes a nerve personally and professionally because maybe he’s joking and maybe he’s not, but how do we trust that individual or that company to cook anyone’s food now.” The incident was similar to one that took place earlier this month when an officer was ordering food in a Florida Arby’s drive-thru. The officer later obtained a refund for her purchase because she had concerns about something being put in her food. There are obviously a lot of people who think the war on police in the US is funny.
