This State Bans Abortions On Babies With Beating Hearts

North Dakota’s Republican Governor, Doug Burgum, has signed into law a bill which bans abortions on all babies with beating hearts. The move makes the state one of the most pro-life in the country. The law bans abortions at six weeks of pregnancy when a baby’s heart can be detected. Governor Burgum stated that the law “clarifies and refines existing state law” and reaffirms North Dakota as a pro-life state.

The bill was passed by North Dakota state senators last Wednesday. Republican Sen. Janne Myrdal, of Edinburg, supported the bill and said, “North Dakota has always been pro-life and believed in valuing the moms and children both.
