Trump: A Lightning Rod Attracting All Who Hate America

Eight years ago, just prior to the presidential primary in California, I witnessed less lethal hatred in California when it reared its ugly presence in San Jose, California. During that hot summer, Trump was out on the campaign trail in the time leading to the Republican National Convention in 2016. I wrote an article calling attention to it in the aftermath of such a display of disrespect and willful destructiveness towards Trump supporters at that campaign stop. I never would have imagined it would grow and escalate to what we witnessed last Saturday.

The fear and hatred manifested into violence is not a normal reaction anymore

In that time I wrote an article and titled it ,“Trump: A lightning rod for those who hate America.” I had not been a fan of Trump as I had been working for a Super Pac supporting Dr. Ben Carson that year. However, it was Dr. Carson who changed my point of view on Trump in a letter that he sent all of his supporters. I still reserved my judgment a bit until after the RNC convention that was held in Cleveland, Ohio that year from July 18–21, 2016. Trump had not been nominated yet, just as he had yet to be officially nominated this year before he was shot.

The fear and hatred manifested into violence is not a normal reaction anymore. It was not at all warranted in 2016, and the assassination attempt was not warranted last Saturday. But, eight years later, the fear and hatred of Trump has only reached a frenzied, irrational and senseless dimension. The hatred and violence I witnessed then has morphed into something absolutely evil. Normal political campaigns include a great deal of hyperbole and disparaging rhetoric, but when opposition Party leaders call for the literal targeting of an opponent, it has already taken a dark turn. It is reminiscent of the threats and actual danger of how president-elect Abraham Lincoln was targeted by the haters of his day from the day he was announced as a candidate.

It is obvious that the assassination of President Trump is something wished for by many enemies, within the U.S. and those from enemy nations. Many of Trump’s most rabid opponents started publicly calling for his termination without much hesitation or concern over civility. Many of the opposition Party leaders display a sense of utter disregard for the value of human life. Many seem to possess little fear over any type of federal investigation into such hate-filled statements. More recently, several officials from the opposition Party in the beginning of this month started inferring that Trump needs to be taken out--even Joe Biden: (Biden admits putting Trump in 'bull's-eye' was a mistake. It's a little late for that.)
It is not ironic that he made such a vile statement inferring the targeting of Trump to take him out, and now he himself has been “taken out” by his own Party, though it is presented in public that it was a decision he made. The puppet master in the shadows got a third term through the sock puppet he arranged to occupy the White House on his behalf, and it is likely that he had to arrange for Biden to be put back in his basement. The power of unbridled hatred is such that eating of their own is of little concern. Without a healthy conscience those who are evil possess little moral or ethical restraint.

In such a time, when the power of evil people is threatened, and their desire to retain dominion over simple-minded people becomes endangered, the threat becomes the target. And, from so many examples in history, those in power who are without scruples, will not hesitate to take desperate measures to retain that power. Those who see Donald Trump as a threat to their entrenched power and those who want to seize that power are responding to Trump with increasing fury. Such hatred is on full display for all Americans to see.

American citizens are witnessing just how strong that hatred has grown against Trump in 2024

The 2016 election year is one for the history books. But, one thing became certain that year: Donald Trump had become a lightning rod for those who oppose the foundational values of the United States of America --all those who hate America. His crime--he loves America and the American people. The evil and hatred and violence also was evident during the 2020 election (if intelligent people could deem it a legitimate election).

There seems to be a pattern that has grown and developed over the course of these past eight years, and in this year’s presidential election, American citizens are witnessing just how strong that hatred has grown against Trump in 2024. It is unnatural, and all Americans should realize that it is not just hatred directed at Trump, it is hatred aimed at the fundamental values most Americans hold dear--especially our freedoms.

In such a time as this, in such a toxic environment filled with so much hatred, it is wise to recall the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.-- "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." It is even more wise to move out of the darkness into the light and to free those who hate from such spiritual prisons.
