Then, in Pavlovian fashion, blamed Kirk for his own death for being “divisive.” Dowd was fired, but only after anchor Katy Tur laid the groundwork by editorializing Kirk as a dangerous figure. The message was clear: if you’re conservative, if you speak boldly, you deserve what’s coming.

And Dowd was not an isolated case. Jimmy Kimmel made the same claim, and is now also facing losing his show.
