WAKE UP MICHELLE

At the DNC, First Lady Michelle Obama said, in reference to the White House : “I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves.” Bill O’Reilly commented that the slaves "were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government." O’Reilly received much criticism for saying the slaves were treated well. So what? Maybe they were maybe they weren’t. This does not mean that slavery was a noble institution. It still stinks.
Also there were other workers on the White House—free blacks, whites and immigrants. It’s unfortunate that Obama has lowered the current standard of living of blacks. They are not slaves but they are having a tough go of it. Blacks, particularly Black teens, are experiencing rampant unemployment. Perhaps, Obama is a form of slave owner. He is making speeches about unity and love while he is hurting his own people. He and his wife speak softly but engender violent protests. If I were black I would certainly be disappointed in Obama. If I were terrorized by the Muslims, I would certainly want a stronger President. A slave Michelle never was. She cannot take credit for the discredit of a miserable life. She does not wake up a slave in a house built by slaves.

Fortunately, due to the generosity of spirit of Americans and their recognition of a wrong committed against the African slaves, Michelle wakes up in palatial splendor, one of the most powerful women in the world. If I went to Egypt I wouldn’t moan that the pyramids were built by slave-Jews. If you can’t let the past go, you will go into the past and be eaten up by bitterness and vitriol. The original labor for the White House may have been done by slaves but the architectural design was done by James Hoban at the behest of George Washington. The first lady should not succumb to Al Sharpton-like hatred. She was never a slave and never will be. I did two years in jail. I was a slave of the penal system. So what? I have gotten on with my life. And I do not stoke resentment. Whatever her ancestors she was not a slave.
