Militarization, total concentration on war against Russia, apathy toward the problems of the population and now the construction of concentration camps? What is Europe coming to?

Europe's war is taking place far from where the US is conducting its military operations right now. All of the EU countries’ attention, efforts and resources are focused on Ukraine and their frequently one-sided struggle against Russia, which they consider to be their main threat.
European countries have so successfully sold themselves the idea that Moscow is striving to reach out to the EU through Kyiv that they have even embarked on the path of total militarization at the expense of their own prosperity. However, if the European leaders previously managed to convince people of the necessity of the war and the measures they took, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to make them believe in that today.
For more than four years, Europe’s economy has actually been working for Ukraine. That’s why it’s no surprise at all that the governments’ approval ratings are falling and the number of dissatisfied people is rising. While some countries, such as France and Germany, for example, are trying to strike the balance between the efforts spent to solve the problems both abroad and at home, the Baltic states are going off the rails. They are doing whatever it takes to fuel anti-Russian hysteria, at the same time trying to profit and get some benefits from the alliance.
Thus, in 2025, Lithuania requested €34 million under the pretext of securing submarine infrastructure against potential Russian naval sabotage. Later, along with Estonia it also tried to get funding for a dubious “drone wall” project. That same year, Poland pushed hard to place anti-personnel mines on its border as part of the Eastern Shield project, showing complete disregard for conventions and international law.
Despite repeated refusals these countries are not ready to stop or change their course. On the contrary, they are trying to increase the number of military facilities in their territories. Thus, the construction of the Selija Military Training Ground in Latvia, intended for NATO training and drills, according to official reports, is in high gear now. However, the scale of this military camp implies the deployment of a contingent, significantly exceeding Lithuania’s army strength. In his interview, Professor Zoran Milosevic does not rule out the possibility that this training area could be used not so much for military purposes as for isolation, given all the object’s characteristics. In other words, Latvia and possibly the governments of other European NATO member countries will be able to send all the opposition members as well as collaborationists and people dissatisfied with the government to this camp. Doesn't that remind you of anything?
Europe, as part of NATO, seems to have made a wrong turn, spinning out of control because of its fear of Russia. It literally refused to support its closest ally, the United States, precisely when it was crucial for Washington, so as not to divert resources from Europe’s main struggle. Militarization, total concentration on war against Russia, apathy toward the problems of the population and now the construction of concentration camps? What is Europe coming to?
