Ban Television not Guns

Ban Television not Guns
On the peaceful drive home from Santa Fe, going the back way up through the San Luis Valley to Colorado Springs, I caught an AM radio program that was wafting in and out from some town in the southwestern United States. The sun was setting. I was alone on the highway. And the saged prairies dotted with dark juniper cedar trees were rolling by in front of high mountains covered in pine. Anyone who’s made that trip will understand the awesome solemnity which accompanies that beautiful scenery.

The scratchy radio was a live presentation from some college alumni gathering of heavy-brained academicians who met every Sunday evening somewhere on the West Coast. I didn’t catch any of those particulars. Nevertheless the speaker was a brilliant old man - whose name, sadly, I will never know. This was years back when speakers at college campuses had no fear of bratty protesters who refused to behave themselves. And there was certainly not the slightest possibility of any physical uprisings from anyone who might have disagreed with the speaker’s point of view or his candor in expressing it.

Trump Is Weathering A Storm Of Media Abuse

Trump Is Weathering A Storm Of Media Abuse
The Trump hating media has found a new obsession and her name is Stormy Daniels. The porn star is alleging a 2006 one-night stand with then reality TV star and businessman Donald Trump and the media cannot get enough of her story. In recent weeks, Daniels has been the focus of countless CNN and MSNBC segments. Her interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes was hyped for weeks, leading to a massive audience of 22 million viewers for the show. This was biggest audience for 60 Minutes in the last ten years.

Sadly, the interview was a disgrace, a virtual soft-core pornographic expose of this supposed relationship. Cooper asked her about intimate details of the alleged encounter in an interview that would have been a better fit for airing on the Playboy Channel.

My Human and Civil Rights and the 2nd Amendment are NOT Negotiable!

My Human and Civil Rights and the 2nd Amendment are NOT Negotiable!

Never acknowledged by media pundits, culture warriors, politicians and law professors, and even constitutional scholars raised on Marx and Engels, is the fact that the 2nd Amendment does not give “permission” for American citizens to possess firearms.

Never acknowledged by media pundits, culture warriors, politicians and law professors, and even constitutional scholars raised on Marx and Engels, is the fact that the 2nd Amendment does not give “permission” for American citizens to possess firearms.

Nor does the 2nd define the militia, other than rulings have cited later definitions based on the Founder’s written statements. One of which is that the militia, meaning any capable citizen who could wield firearms, was obligated to purchase a military firearm with his own funds and have them at the ready. A firearm refers to weapons that propel a deadly projectile using an explosive force. All firearms are otherwise assault weapons designed for, and are of, military origins. Accordingly, all firearms are military weapons. All firearms are assault weapons. Specifically if one used them to assault someone. Meaning, when the political left wants to ban “assault weapons” they mean all weapons, including pistols and revolvers.

All bricks, hammers, ashtrays, edged weapons including saws, potato peelers and screwdrivers happen to be assault weapons. All trucks are assault weapons that can kill more people in one incident than any mass shooting has ever killed.

Don’t Bet On Beatrice

Don’t Bet On Beatrice
Glaring at the Volkswagen Beetle in front of the commissary store on Dad’s Mississippi Delta cotton farm, my boyhood best friend and mentor Jaybird said, “That ain’t nothing but a coffin with wheels on it.”

The car belonged to Bennie, the rural mail carrier who always stopped at the store for the ultimate Southern snack: a Moon Pie and RC Cola.

Flawed “Logic” That Only Youngster And Kids Can Accept

Flawed Logic That Only Youngster And Kids Can Accept
The March for Gun Control (official name: “March for Our Lives”) that took place on March 24, 2018, in Washington, DC, and elsewhere was an event that one can have some mixed feelings about. People’s right to keep and bear arms (most importantly, guns) is arguably the most effective and practical instrument with which to prevent a pre-emption of our freedom and wealth. Any calls for “gun control” de facto place guns that we may use to defend our lives, liberty, and property, in the same category as pests and diseases, as the phrases “pest control” and “disease control” clearly indicate. This is particularly of concern under the circumstances of almost complete absence of calls for gang control, violence control, and dangerous individuals’ control.

Trump, GOP consider rarely used Impoundment Act to rescind some of the omnibus spending
If they actually do it, it will be an act of boldness not seen by congressional Republicans in . . . OK, I can’t think of an example. It’s the sort of thing Newt Gingrich would have done during his days as Speaker if he could have gotten the troops on board, but there were always too many Nervous Nellies to make this sort of thing feasible.

What are we talking about here?

Trump agrees with audience member – Repealing the 2nd Amendment is tyranny
Democrats want the 2nd Amendment gone.  The elimination of your right to bear arms has been at or near the top of their agenda for years.  For a long time, they danced around it.  They’d pretend they were big 2A supporters, pay lip service to “tradition,” and film a few campaign ads where they went duck hunting in a khaki vest and a plaid hat.  It was all a lie.  The truth has always been that they can’t wait for the day when you no longer have the right to defend yourself.

These days, obviously, they’re getting a bit bolder.

Ami Horowitz: Should George Washington University Change Its Name?

For his latest digital short, conservative documentary filmmaker Ami Horowitz took a few hours to have some conversations with George Washington University students about the nearly 200-year-old institution’s name. Should the university change its name because its namesake owned slaves? The result, Horowitz reports, was a stunning 70% of the students with whom he spoke told him they think it’s time to cast off the name of America’s first and most famous president.

“Controversy has been raging across our country as people tear down objectionable monuments and change the names of institutions that connote evil,” says Horowitz, who took to the campus of GW to see how students feel about the name of their historic university.

Wrong Date, Maybe

A local newspaper (“The Australian”, March 31) had an article headline I never thought I would or should see “Who do you believe, the President or the porn star?” Surely this would be more appropriate the next day - April 1.

How To Stay In Power

How To Stay In Power
The main objective of all despots and most politicians is to stay in power. How do they manage to achieve that?

The experts say fear, control of information, reward, and being somewhat nuts goes a long way to holding on to power. There are a few sub-rules as well…depend on as few people as possible to keep yourself in power; let the cronies that help keep you in power know they can be easily replaced; tax the people as much as possible to enrich yourself and pay off your toadies; distribute as little tax revenue as possible, just enough to give people the impression you care about them while keeping hope alive that things will get better.

Questions We’re Often Asked: Lilies by Any Name

Questions We're Often Asked: Lilies by Any Name

“Lilies of all kinds, the flower-de-luce being one!”—William Shakespeare The Winter’s Tale

Apologies to you Will, but the symbol of France is no lily but instead a stylized iris. A lily by any other name might still be a lily though, right? Sorry, most definitely not. Many a flower, although welcome in the garden, masquerades under a nom-de-plume. Common examples are Lily of the Valley (Convallaria) and Daylily (Hemerocallis).

Easter Angst Pope Francis Style

Easter Angst Pope Francis Style
Did Social Justice-boosting Pope Francis really say in an interview with atheist Eugenio Scalfari that Hell does not exist in a story that went viral on, of all days, Holy Thursday?

We don’t know.  But no matter what Pope Francis says or doesn’t say, Christians do know for certain that Hell is as real as the air we breathe.

The Day that Transformed the World Forever

The Day that Transformed the World Forever
Of all holidays, Easter is the one that celebrates a single event that transformed the world forever.  There are many religions with different founders, prophets and teachers going back thousands of years, but only one of them has a founder who professed to be the messiah—the son of God who could save mankind.

Jesus was born in a Jewish family and lived and walked amongst the people of Israel.  Every year Jesus’ parents took his family to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover.  On one such occasion when he was twelve, Jesus got separated from his parents and made his way to the temple, where he sat with the esteemed teachers—listening, asking questions and teaching.  According to Luke 2:47, “Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.” Later, when his adult ministry began, Jesus drew thousands upon thousands who flocked to hear him.

Hamas’s partners in its war against Israel

Hamas’s partners in its war against Israel
On Friday, the Palestinian terror group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, is inaugurating what it is calling “The March of Return.”

According to Hamas’s leadership, the “March of Return” is scheduled to run from March 30 – the eve of Passover — through May 15, the 70th anniversary of Israel’s establishment. According to Israeli media reports, Hamas has budgeted $10 million for the operation.

Throughout the “March of Return,” Hamas intends to send thousands of civilians to the Israeli border. Hamas is planning to set up tent camps along the border fence and then, presumably, order participants to overrun it on May 15. The Palestinians refer to May 15 as “Nakba,” or Catastrophe Day.

Progressive Left Coming For Our Pets

Progressive Left Coming Four Our Pets

Creeping incrementally into North American culture: the progressive left’s longtime mission to find the airtight way to relieve people of their beloved pets.

The goal of the far left has always been to demoralize, depress and leave the masses in despair.

They search for ways for untold millions to be forced to give up their pets, regardless of the heartache it would cause.

If the progressive left finds success on pet politics, untold millions of people will be forced to give up their pets.
