Easter Angst Pope Francis Style Did Social Justice-boosting Pope Francis really say in an interview with atheist Eugenio Scalfari that Hell does not exist in a story that went viral on, of all days, Holy Thursday? We don’t know. But no matter what Pope Francis says or doesn’t say, Christians do know for certain that Hell is as real as the air we breathe.

Why the founder of La Repubblica, a communist atheist, was granted a private meeting on the occasion of Easter is unknown

We know, too that no matter what this pontiff says or doesn’t say that millions of Christians worldwide will continue to commemorate, in the most fervent of prayer, the Passion of Christ on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday. “In another interview with his longtime atheist friend, Eugenio Scalfari, Pope Francis claims that Hell does not exist and that condemned souls just "disappear." This is a denial of the 2,000-year-old teaching of the Catholic Church about the reality of Hell and the eternal existence of the soul. (CNSNews, Mar. 29, 2018)
“The interview between Scalfari and the Pope was published March 28, 2018 in La Repubblica. The relevant section on Hell was translated by the highly respected web log, Rorate Caeli.  “*In a statement released on Mar. 29, after Scalfari's report garnered worldwide attention, the Vatican said: "The Holy Father Francis recently received the founder of the newspaper La Repubblica in a private meeting on the occasion of Easter, without however giving him any interviews. What is reported by the author in today’s article [in La Repubblica] is the result of his reconstruction, in which the textual words pronounced by the Pope are not quoted. No quotation of the aforementioned article must therefore be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father.”
Why the founder of La Repubblica, a communist atheist, was granted a private meeting on the occasion of Easter is unknown. Shouldn’t Pope Francis have used the occasion to convert him? Christian bashers, out in droves during Holy Week 2018, failed as they did every other year in turning people of faith away from the Passion of Christ.

We’re too busy profoundly thanking God Almighty for sending His only Son to save our souls by His agonizing death on the Cross

Satan and his unleashed demons were more vociferous than usual during the Lenten season this year, all the way from an Easter sign by an Australian church featuring the word “Jesus” banned at a shopping center in New South Wales, Australia to College of the Holy Cross professor Dr. Tat-siong Benny Liew, whose blasphemous words about Jesus I refuse to include here. Is he a friend of the pontiff too? As for the ban on the name of Jesus: “Lendlease, the property company in question, has since apologized for what it says was a mistake, but the church's pastor is wondering why there was an issue with the name "Jesus," but not semi-pornographic ads that are displayed at the shopping center. (Christian Post)
The name ‘Jesus’, of course, is a prayer, and to untold millions perhaps the purest and most powerful prayer of them all. With the Christian bashing, blasphemy, mockery and ridicule at an all time high this year, Christians might want to bring back the traditional Irish blessing: “May you be in Heaven a full half hour before the Devil knows you’re dead.” Meanwhile, as Christians many of us have no time to ponder the words that Pope Francis did or didn’t say. We’re too busy profoundly thanking God Almighty for sending His only Son to save our souls by His agonizing death on the Cross.
