The day Trump announced his candidacy, I wrote that yes, Trump could win. America, I argued, loves a fighter. I believed that, once you get away from the mealy-mouthed halls of Washington DC and the media that covers it, you find that real people love a plain-spoken smash mouth politician. Along the way, I wobbled. I thought Trump's unforced errors, and the firestorm of faux-outrage they engendered, had taken too much control of the narrative. I kept my chin up but, by the time Election Day rolled around, I had serious doubts about Trump's chances.
Herman Cain never wavered.
