5 of Election Day's biggest winners

The day Trump announced his candidacy, I wrote that yes, Trump could win. America, I argued, loves a fighter. I believed that, once you get away from the mealy-mouthed halls of Washington DC and the media that covers it, you find that real people love a plain-spoken smash mouth politician. Along the way, I wobbled. I thought Trump's unforced errors, and the firestorm of faux-outrage they engendered, had taken too much control of the narrative. I kept my chin up but, by the time Election Day rolled around, I had serious doubts about Trump's chances. Herman Cain never wavered.
This is Herman's site, so I'm not including him on the list below. It's focused outward. But make no mistake: The Boss nailed this one from day one and he put his and his radio show's reputation on the line along the way. That's a ballsy move, and he deserves a round of applause. As for a few other people and things who had a great night Tuesday, read on....

5. Sean Hannity

While Herman was on board, I'm not sure I've ever seen a media figure go as "all-in" for a candidate as Sean Hannity went for Trump. Once it became clear Trump would be the nominee, Sean was unabashedly cheerleading - sometimes to an almost ludicrous degree. Over the course of the last year, he's been viciously attacked, from all sides, for his pro-Trump stance. Heck, even I gave him some guff about what I thought was a man squandering years of credibility on a candidate whose emerging scandals would end him. ...And Sean turned out to be 100% right. As mentioned above, I was nervous - not about the faux-severity of Trump scandals, but about what I believed they'd do to his electability. Hannity wasn't. In fact, he repeatedly doubled-down and emerges as the single biggest TV personality to call it early.

4. New Media

Speaking of radio, conservative news outlets, and constitutionalist writers, they ALL had a very, very, big night Tuesday. While the old media embarrassed itself to an almost inconceivable degree, Conservatives on the web and radio stayed strong. Old-school pollsters, pundits, and analysts walk away from this election with their credibility incinerated. New media is stronger than ever and, thanks to the defeat of Hillary Clinton, it won't have to deal with an incoming President working to destroy it.

3. The NRA

Speaking of organizations that backed the right horse, we have the National Rifle Association. Despite its national popularity, the NRA was portrayed as the most evil organization on the face of the Earth. The NRA hates you. The NRA facilitates the right's black genocide. The NRA wants your children dead. We heard it all, and we heard it from everyone. The NRA (and its membership) stood its ground and defeated an assault that would have utterly obliterated most organizations, and it is rewarded with a new President who is staunchly pro-2nd Amendment.

2. Taxpayers & Producers

If you make something, grow something, own a business, or work for a company that turns a profit, you should be pretty happy today. In fact, anyone who earns a living and must deal with the IRS should be breathing a sigh of relief. Trump's tax plan is solid, as is his stance on over-regulation. His policies will encourage corporate growth, job growth, and will let you keep more of what you make. Rest assured, whatever legislation Hillary had planned would have done the exact opposite. Like all Dems, she talked a good game about entrepreneurs but, when push came to shove, her policies would have decimated several industries. Need evidence of that? Take a look at the vote in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

1. The Constitution

Throughout the campaign, I've argued that it's worth tolerating any of Trump's campaign foibles because the other option - Hillary Clinton - was unacceptable. There are a lot of reasons for that, but if you dig down to the bedrock of the argument you'll find one irrefutable truth. Donald Trump's Supreme Court Picks will support the Constitution. Hillary's would have destroyed it. I've written, repeatedly, about Hillary's disdain for the 2nd Amendment. Her own daughter admitted that she was planning to gut it if she was elected. She's also made it clear that she has no time for the speech and religious protections of the 1st Amendment - at least when they're applied to Conservatives and Christians. She could simply NOT be allowed to pick what will probably be at least two Supreme Court justices. Considering the left's utter disgust at the very notion that anything constrains their power and agenda, you can bet that your Constitutional protections are in a much better place than they were just three days ago.
