AG Nominee Todd Blanche Promises Action on Abortion Pills: We Will “Protect the Unborn”

Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley questioned acting Attorney General Todd Blanche over the Trump administration not changing some Biden-era abortion policies at Wednesday’s confirmation hearing.

Hawley pressed Blanche over the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) abortion pill regulations still in place from the Biden administration, stating that the “dramatic increase” in abortions in Missouri and nationwide since 2023 came after former President Joe Biden “contravened” pro-life states’ laws through FDA regulations.

The Biden-era FDA in 2021 removed the in-person requirement from abortion pill prescriptions so that health care providers can prescribe the abortion pills to patients completely online, according to the FDA website. The FDA finalized the removal of the in-person requirement in 2023. ---More...
