Most of the Founding Fathers expressed similar concerns. Why do you suppose this brilliant collection of men found it necessary to voice such concerns? The reason is actually quite simple; our Founding Fathers knew and respected history. They recognized that starting in biblical times and throughout history, when human beings allowed moral values to degenerate into perversions, all previous civilized societies had collapsed into chaos and tyranny.
