I, too, want to hail DeSantis as the new Conservative hero. One VERY troubling fact exists, however. He is ignoring the huge amount of voter fraud currently in action in Florida. He called a presser to announce his new "Election Crimes" unit, then another to announce that they had id's 20 former felons who had tried to vote in 2020.
All the while, he has a line item in his '23 budget for ERIC, the far-left voter fraud machine which advertises as a voter roll maintenance organization. States are beginning to learn that ERIC is a huge feed for ineligible names onto the voter rolls, rather than the system that culls them. Just yesterday WI announced a suit against their own department of elections for using ERIC because of the fraud, and LA quit in July of this year. The Gov of FL has been presented with the evidence also.
AT this point, it is safe to say that - with all the facts out about ERIC -- that any state official who doesn't at least INVESTIGATE it is either clueless or complicit.
As you say, DeSantis has made many brilliant moves that play well to the audience, so he's definitely not a clueless man. That only leaves one other choice, and I hate to think it. I, too, want that hero.

The GOP also treated everyone on the list of fighters for the Constitution as some kind of radical or outlier from the party. Those few honorable men with grit got the other weak kneed politicians of the GOP elected with their staunch Americanism. Conservatives are quite, as a group, and kinder than the Democrazies that are in power, now. However, the traditional GOP and the DNC has thoroughly confused kindness with weakness. Conservative’s aren’t weak. I think the next few election cycles will show the professional politicians how quiet strength works.

These great people really are the leaders we all need. Leaders for the people not against us all. Around the world we must support these good men and women that are really for the people, freedom from this oppression that is taking over and protecting our countries.

But Republicans (mot of them) don't want to win. For several decades they've been content as the controlled opposition to Democrats. They'll grouse and complain, btch and whine, but inevitably give in to even the most atrocious Democrat agendas. The money is just too good.
