How is it, if you’re fleeing persecution— how can it be better a year later, so much so, that you’re willing to spend the summer in Cuba?

If you come from Cuba, you are presumed to be fleeing persecution. Which means you are automatically eligible got refugee cash.

You’re eligible for food stamps. You’re eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. Others who immigrate this country have to wait five years for that—and they don’t get the refugee cash.

But within a year, depending if you’re paroled, you get to apply for a Green Card…And then you can travel back to Cuba as often as you want. Multiple times.

You can take cash. You can buy stuff with the food stamps.

I’ve seen it!

Ok? I didn’t read this in a magazine.

They fill up these bags and they take them back to Cuba. They use the food stamps over there or they just transfer the cash.

Some people go back to Cuba for three months at a time. They’ve been here a year!

How is it, if you’re fleeing persecution— how can it be better a year later, so much so, that you’re willing to spend the summer in Cuba?
