June sales cap positive first half auto sales for 2013

TORONTO – June auto sales of 171,608 units capped a strong first half of 2013 in which sales of light duty vehicles were up 2.2% (883,667 units) while sales for the month of June were up marginally by 1.3% compared to a year ago. Following on sales increases of 9% in April and 5% in May, the June numbers contributed to a strong spring selling seasons. At the current pace, 2013 has an opportunity to represent one of the best years ever for light duty vehicle sales in Canada, and is tracking with reach of the record 1.73 million units sold in 2002.
