A tornado was heading straight for their home. When it hit, the house collapsed


Two steel beams crushed Stephanie Decker’s legs. Seven ribs broke. Her legs were almost completely severed.

But underneath her were her two children.

Alive.

Then they realised something horrifying:

Another tornado was coming.

Stephanie couldn’t stand. Couldn’t run. Couldn’t free herself.

So she pulled the blanket over her children, wrapped her arms around them and covered them with her broken body.

Again.

The second tornado passed.

Neither child had even a scratch.

Stephanie survived, but lost both legs.

People called her a hero.

She simply said:

“I call myself a mom.”
