TORONTO – Auto sales in May advanced solidly by 5.7% in May compared to last year with 195,571 vehicles sold last month. Year-to-date sales through May are 2.9% higher than last year. While consumer confidence dipped 2.6 points in May, the confidence level was still 6.6 points higher than May 2013. For a fifth straight month in 2014, vehicle sales were well ahead of the historical 5 year sales for the month of May with sales up almost 20% over the May average.
