Millstone or Milestone? Where does education stand?

Believers are faced with a challenge to ensure the next generations are set on the path to a fulfilling life based in faith. Family, the Church and education centered in biblical values is the key to what's necessary to help youth successfully navigate the surrounding culture. Education choices are being whittled down as public schools are focusing more and more on secular social issues instead of core subjects that build character, critical thinking and skills necessary for individual achievement in trade, business or higher education… what used to be called "reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic." The essential three "R's" have evolved into STEM studies that public education has emphasized to the point that learning proper English, unrevised history, geography, civics, etc. is no longer considered crucial to a balanced curriculum.

Another absolutely well written true column from an excellent writer and educator.
When I was young school started with the Lord's Prayer, then from the day before we had to recite from memory an assigned Verse from the Bible, then we sang God save the Queen and the National Anthem. Then over the PA system the Principal would do the daily announcements. My children now in their forties and fifties had none of this at school. We had to follow rules late 3 times they called your parents and you received the strap, talking in class or not having your homework complete you also received the strap etc. When in high school, biology class was the closest thing we were taught that had sexual organs mentioned, but by then though embarrassing our parents had already discussed this with us. My children learned about being a lesbian or a homosexual in I think grade eiight and you won't get pregnant. ???

Public education has devolve in many school districts into an almost lawless indoctrination ground for Anti Traditional Judeao/Christian American Values!
