Appreciation is a huge benefit in any line of work, but when your job may require you to put your life on the line at any moment, it’s especially meaningful. Being a police officer requires a special type of person. Split second decisions are often required where either you or someone else may lose their life or be seriously injured
In many Democratic run states and cities, appreciation not only doesn’t exist, its been replaced with persecution. Cries of “defund the police,” have weakened forces to the point that the job is even more dangerous. In those cities and states the risk/reward factor has shifted dramatically to the risk side of the ledger, causing many good officers to look elsewhere.

I noticed a comment by another that hit the mark:
People don’t trust the police. Some put the badge on and it goes to their head and think they can do whatever they want. Time that they are held accountable.
An account from: long time elementary school teachers. A common thread in their teaching experience is that the worst, most aggressive bullies in their classes end up in their late teens or early 20s either in the military or as cops, or coming out of the military and then becoming cops. Now, not all cops are life long bullies, but . . . a lot of life long bullies become cops.
There is a corrupt cop, KK, in Sanford, Fl. who uses his job to collect on favors to other cops. I bought a cabinet at an auction and a Seminole County Sheriff deputy purchased the contents of the cabinet. He had a contingent of prisoners he was "rehabilitating?", (or teaching how to steal), and I waited till the last hour of the last day for him to remove his contents. Finally, the auctioneer had his crew remove his stuff, and I took my cabinet. Seems the Deputy got pissed and put some kind of hit out on me, and KK took the bait. A lot of cops are bad! Really bad when they sit with the Judge in the Seminole County Courtroom and lie!!!
