When Siddharth Kara was an undergraduate at Duke University, he volunteered along with several other students to work in Bosnian refugee camps in the former Yugoslavia. With a UN mission, he spent a summer living among refugees. From them he learned about Serbian soldiers who raided Bosnian villages and killed the men. They then rounded up the women and young girls, raped them and trafficked them to brothels across Europe.
Kara didn’t know it at the time, but that dreadful experience shaped much of his life. The stories of sex trafficking haunted him while he completed his education (an MBA and a law degree) and went to work as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in New York. -- More...
