WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic regarding whether the federal Medicaid Act confers a “right” to choose a specific medical provider and whether Medicaid patients have a right to sue if they are denied that provider. The case arose when the pro-life state of South Carolina disqualified Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid funds to avoid subsidizing the abortion industry.
