The idea that solar energy is a practical solution for reducing emissions of carbon dioxide is strictly a fantasy

Solar Plant Failures

Government planning and subsidies will make many nations the world's green energy powers, create millions of jobs, and supercharge the economy—or so we've heard. Results with solar make one wonder about this statement. In recent times a number of large scale solar plants have failed world-wide and these aren't the first failures of heavily taxpayer funded solar plants. Dozens of solar focused companies around the globe have disappeared through bankruptcy, insolvency, or just shutting their doors since 2009 when prices of solar panels plunged as competition from China increased.

Solar Panels & Windmills are part-time solutions to a Full-Time Problem!

I have built two Photovoltaic systems...one 5kW system in California and a 10kW system in south west New Mexico. Both were economically appropriate because of a pretty healthy state and federal tax break. The New Mexico system has been fully amortized (with no equipment failure) and has been operating since 2013. it provides about 95% of my yearly needs and has almost eliminated my electric bill. I rely on the electric grid so mine is not a stand-alone system. If I had to install some sort of storage system for my generated power this would drastically change the picture...but it could be done and I probably would do it especially if the present grid became unreliable. I have come to the conclusion that while the local power company pays lip-service to 'distributed generation'...pv panels on private structures around the state...they actually view us as competitors and would love to charge us for accessing their grid...a charge that would make it NOT economic to have a grid-tied system. (I have past-communications from them to support this claim, BTW. Take a look at the way the local power company in Honolulu, Hawaii is handling 'distributed generation' systems on Oahu.) I really think the solution is nuclear power generation...
