August 11th and 12th, Charlottesville, Virginia-- The "Unite the Right" rally, a/k/a the "Charlottesville rally". Just another rally, maybe? Presumably, the First Amendment of the Constitution explicitly provides for the 'right of the people to peaceably assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances'. Oh, but wait, one very crucial point in all this verbiage, is the key word "peaceably" - inclined or disposed to avoid strife or dissension; not argumentative or hostile. So...what does the First Amendment provide for? Does it provide for the right of angry mobs to remove monuments and memorials from public spaces? Or...does it provide for individuals to use violence, attack, and even kill each other just to prove their vantage point?
