The Obama Campaign Team, who went from what looked like a 2008 Greek Temple to a sand sculpture of Obama in an imitation of Mount Rushmore, thought they were being one upmanship-cute, but unwittingly delivered the Other Side a big favour.
And not just because the bottom of the sand bust of Obama that will greet delegates to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) was washed away by Saturday rains and had to be last-minute repaired.
“A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte on Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama--an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention.” (Washington Times, Sept. 1, 2012) “Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade of the waist-up rendering of the chief executive.”
