The now infamous Steele Dossier was born in a Washington D.C. liberal think tank. The Brookings Institution is just one among a host of such D.C. operations.
Wikipedia’s profile of Brookings reads: “The Brookings Institution, open stylized as simply Brookings, is an American think tank founded in 1916. Located on Think Tank Row in Washington, D.C., it conducts research and education in the social sciences, primarily in economics (and tax policy), metropolitan policy, governance, foreign policy, global economy, and economic development.”

I notice that Leftists always speak about "our Democracy" and never about "our Republic". It's not the demise of our democracy they're alarmed about, they're only telling half of their story. What really alarms them is the threat to their Socialist Democracy by the likes of Trump.
The FBI's Director knew there was nothing backing up the Trump-Russia dossier, just allegations made by social media services like Politico, HuffPo, WaPo and such which they obtained from Socialist Democrat bureaucrats like Fiona Hill and Christopher Steele working to protect their Deep State project. The FBI then used those social media as their sources that back up the dossier.
It was all a crooked collaboration between Leftist government interests and Leftist private interests whose Leftist ends justify whatever means are necessary.
