The Democrat Senators have the opportunity to restore public confidence in the rule of law by voting to acquit President Trump against claims by the House that he committed high crimes and misdemeanors involving two charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Those claims had their origins in a phone conversation that had taken place between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky on 25 July 2019—a transcript of which had been released by the White House on 25 September 2019.
