Trump acquittal by Democrat Senators can restore faith in the law

Trump acquittal by Democrat Senators can restore faith in the lawThe Democrat Senators have the opportunity to restore public confidence in the rule of law by voting to acquit President Trump against claims by the House that he committed high crimes and misdemeanors involving two charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Those claims had their origins in a phone conversation that had taken place between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky on 25 July 2019—a transcript of which had been released by the White House on 25 September 2019.
Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff characterized that conversation on 26 September in the following terms:
It reads like a classic organized crime shakedown. Shorn of its rambling character and in not so many words, this is the essence of what the president communicates. We've been very good to your country, very good. No other country has done as much as we have. But you know what? I don't see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you though. And I'm going to say this only seven times so you better listen good. I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand. Lots of it. On this and on that. I'm going to put you in touch with people, not just any people, I am going to put you in touch with the attorney general of the United States, my Attorney General Bill Barr. He's got the whole weight of the American law enforcement behind him. And I'm going to put you in touch with Rudy. You're going to love him. Trust me. You know what I'm asking. And so I'm only going to say this a few more times. In a few more ways. And by the way, don't call me again. I'll call you when you've done what I asked. This is in sum and character what the president was trying to communicate with the president of Ukraine. It would be funny if it wasn't such a graphic betrayal of the president's oath of office. But as it does represent a real betrayal, there's nothing the president says here that is in America's interest after all.
Schiff ended up as the lead House Manager prosecuting President Trump in the Senate on the House's two charges.

He should have recused himself after having so blatantly exposed his bias and animus towards the President. Democrat Senators cannot possibly endorse such conduct and his appearance before the Senate to prosecute the President. Schiff's conduct of the prosecution case allowed him to make—under the cover of legal privilege—the further wild unsubstantiated allegation that the President had attempted to cheat to win the 2020 Presidential election. He also claimed the Senate would be complicit in a cover up and denial of a fair trial if it failed to call additional witnesses and documents—despite the fact that the Senate had before it the evidence of 17 witnesses, 192 video clips from 13 of those witnesses and 28,578 pages of documents.  When the President's legal team laid out their written case for why Trump should be acquitted—they mentioned Schiff's name almost 100 times. They accused the congressman of running an "unheard of procedure that denied the president any semblance of fair process," accused him of lying and of personally orchestrating the whistleblower complaint that led to the impeachment probe. Voting to convict the President in such a clearly partisan trial would undermine the rule of law. Voting to acquit the President would restore faith in the supremacy of the rule of law.
