I'm in my 40's. That means that, for me, the late '80s and early '90s were my high school and college years. During that time (and before it) I was always taught that you "protect the speech you hate, to guarantee the speech you love." The old example was always "we tolerate ugly Klan demonstrations, because in doing so we're ensuring OUR rights as well."
Apparently, though I'm not yet fifty, I'm a geriatric fuddy-duddy. Protecting speech is "the old way."Welcome to CFP’s Comment Section!
