Recently, Rush Limbaugh was off the air for several days to undergo chemotherapy for stage 4 lung cancer. Initially he did well on chemo but then serious side effects kicked in. His legs swelled to where he needed a wheelchair to get to where he was going . He developed a blood clot in his left leg, a high fever and other severe reactions. He had to stop the chemo.
But Rush points out the irony, the chemo was working, killing the cancer. Yet his body couldn't tolerate the treatment. That's because Chemotherapy works by destroying malignant cells faster than healthy cells. Yet it does kill normal cells, healthy cells which can ravage an otherwise healthy body.
Our task force doctors have prescribed a strong chemo to fight the coronavirus, a national shutdown. The chemo is working to slow the rate of infection but as the healthy cells begin to die off, the side-effects kick in.
